Sony was having PR problems before. Let's just hope it doesn't get worse from now on.

Considering Dave Karracker was responsible for the following clusterfucks...

-Blacklisting Kotaku scandal

-Offering $1200 to anyone who could find a PS3 on store shelves in March

-Stating any gamer out there wants a PS3.

I mean, hell, considering a vast majority of the negative shit spinning out of Sony was from Karraker or Kuturugi, his leaving is a good thing.

Now we can only hope that british bald badass Phil Harrison steps in charge. I really like how straight a shooter that fellow has been.

Wasn't Jack Tretton the one who offered $1200 for the PS3?

I know that's who I mailed a bill for $9600 to...

Everyone's "leaving." Kutaragai, Allard, Moore, now this dude. Wonder who's next?

Allard is still at Microsoft, and still in the same division of Entertainment & Devices. He's been working on the Zune project.

THOSE guys left after LONG SERVICE - and Katuragi didn't quit. He was "forcibly resigned" after being "horizontally reassigned".

He's leaving because he was disappointed with his corporate pic and the forced smile they made him wear.

I have to imagine that he's leaving because the people around him are morons. There's nothing like a corporate big wig opening his big fat mouth and making your job 100x harder than it already is.

Good luck to him and thanks for /trying/ to manage Sony PR. It's one hell of a mountain of a task.

Well, if you were Sony's PR man for a year, you'd probably want to get that close to so much vodka, too.

As a long-time video game fan and a supporter of the PS3 (not a fanboy, I have 10 consoles in my apt...waaay too many) I can only say THANK GOD.

Hopefully the new PR guy will actually start, I don't know, talking to the gaming community? Giving us ads that don't depict consoles exploding into crows?

We can hope.

Actually if memory serves he came on after the ps3 launch and all those commercials. I don't think he was very involved in the day to day marketing. I believe he was more of the face of Sony and the guy that got the unlucky job of explaining away all the stupid comments by the higher ups. He was the guy in charge of spin basically.
